Comments: Like a lot of pros in my
business, I too have been "re-educated" by the simple yet effective
Russian Kettlebell (KB). It is an amazing tool. When respected
and used properly, it is also a highly effective and safe tool that will
move you better. KB strength is built on a foundation of stability.
Less efficient strength training builds strength but beyond what can be
stabilized i.e. strength that is not controlled. If you want to
build strength based on stability and control, properly use a kettlebell.
KBs are alive vs. many traditional lifts which seem
"dead" compared to the highly active KB dynamic swing patterns.
For more details, check out my handouts and recommendations below.
Kettlebells
are the real deal, but as usual, people are misusing them like other types
of exercise equipment. There is only ONE way to use a
kettlebell--the RIGHT way with ultimate respect! No matter what you
do with them, come back to the basic foundational movements and safety
then you'll be fine. I'm using them safely and effectively with my
corporate clients--so can you.
Move well Comrades...and feel
the Whole Body POWER of
Kettlebells! December.08
Update!
Yet another 24kg Snatch PR! 110 reps in 5:24. 35:00 with the
16kg in the VO2 Max. Now I need to improve my clean and press.
My goal was 100 24kg reps on New Year's 2009, but I hit this in the middle
of December!
November.08 Update!
My "first" MAJOR KB goal was achieved and exceeded! 60 24kg reps in
3:48. Months of HARD work and sweat...Enjoy my Pain below!
October.08 Update!
120 snatch reps with 24kg using RKC HARD style in sets of ten at the top
of each minute. Up to 50 in one straight set. Everything is getting better--everything.
September.08 Update!
Since I started KB training in May 2008, my strength
gains have been exponential! No BS--here's my bottom line. In
May, I could only snatch the 24 kg once--and not safely. About 4
weeks ago I was up to five 24kg snatches on each side. Now I'm doing
30 total 24kg snatches with 40 only about a week away. I am getting
significantly stronger EACH WEEK! And I'm 48 years old! My
core has tightened, my shoulders have stabilized even more, I'm learning
to use my glutes more as the primary drivers which saves my spine, and the
list goes on and on. Kettlebells are for real if you do them the RKC
"Hard Style" way--and that's NO BS! They work. I'm a living
testimonial.
